The minimum coverage levels that you are required by CA law to have in your California auto insurance policy is as follows:
Bodily Injury Liability – $15,000 per injured person up to a total of $30,000 per accident
Property Damage Liability – $5,000
(You will most commonly see the above two required options referred to in your CA auto policy as 15/30/5 coverage).
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) – Not required in the state of California but may often be a nice benefit to add on to your policy and is available on many different California insurance company’s policies.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage – Not required in the state of California but again may be a nice extra to add to your CA car insurance policy.
